Ancient Crisis Fragments are one of three special Crisis Fragments necessary to unlock the final pinnacle boss, the Arbiter of Ash, in Path of Exile 2. These fragments drop from bosses within unique Citadels scattered across the endgame Atlas.
Citadel Locations and Corresponding Crisis Fragments:
Iron Citadel: Located in forest and grass biomes, the Iron Citadel appears as a large walled city surrounded by wooden houses with straw roofs. It is identifiable by blue beams of light visible in the fog of war on the Atlas map. The boss here is Count Geonor, a modified version of the Act 1 boss. Defeating him rewards the Ancient Crisis Fragment.
Copper Citadel: Found in desert biomes with green metal tents surrounding the site, identified by orange beams in fog. Boss: Jamanra, The Abomination (Act 2 boss). Drops the Faded Crisis Fragment.
Stone Citadel: Located in coastal or mountainous areas with a large stone pyramid and smaller pyramids nearby, marked by red beams. Boss: Doryani (Act 3 boss). Drops the Weathered Crisis Fragment.
Tips for Efficient Farming:
Use Waystones with high Waystone Drop Chance modifiers (>500%) to increase fragment drop rates.
Optimize your Atlas passive tree to boost Waystone effectiveness and increase the chances to discover Citadels.
Explore large areas of the Atlas per map run, focusing on fog regions where colored beams indicate nearby Citadels.
Clear Citadels carefully as dying will fail the run and consume the Waystone.
Prepare your build for challenging boss fights in these Citadels to ensure efficient farming.
These Crisis Fragments are also sometimes available from the Act currency exchange NPC after unlocking Cruel difficulty but farming Citadel bosses is the most reliable method.
Players find Ancient Crisis Fragments by defeating Count Geonor in Iron Citadels, which spawn in forest and grass biomes marked by blue light beams on the Atlas. Efficient Citadel farming with optimized Waystones and map exploration greatly improves fragment acquisition, enabling progress toward facing the Arbiter of Ash in the Burning Monolith.
