Deadly Fate, Cowardly Fate, and Victorious Fate are three distinct yet equally important items dropped during the Trials of Chaos in Path of Exile 2. These Fate fragments are required to unlock and challenge The Trialmaster, a pinnacle boss encounter offering top-tier rewards.
Each Fate corresponds to a specific boss fight in the Trial of Chaos—Deadly Fate drops from Bahlak, the Sky Seer; Cowardly Fate from Uxmal, the Beastlord; and Victorious Fate from Chetza, the Feathered Plague. You must collect all three to proceed to The Trialmaster.
In terms of importance, none of these Fates is inherently more valuable or "matters" more than the others because you need the complete set for progression. However, from a practical standpoint, some players find certain Fates easier or more challenging to farm depending on their build and playstyle, or based on which boss encounters they prefer or have crafted strategies against.
Deadly Fate often strikes players as more dangerous due to the boss’s high critical hit chance and aggressive attack patterns, while Cowardly Fate encounters tend to involve beasts that require good crowd control and positioning. Victorious Fate’s fight can demand timely dodging and awareness to handle the plague-themed mechanics.
Since these Fates drop on different rounds and bosses within the Trial of Chaos, your priority should be running the full 10-round trial consistently to collect each one over time. The random nature of which Fate you receive on completion means it often takes multiple runs to gather the whole set.
The goal is to collect all three Fates, so none technically matters more. Players tend to focus on whichever Fate they are currently missing, strategically farming those bosses repeatedly until the full set is secured for The Trialmaster fight. Your best approach is to evenly invest effort in obtaining all three, leveraging your build’s strengths to overcome the unique challenges posed by each Fate boss.
